A winter storm had cut Puffin Rock Observatory off from the mainland for six long days, and everyone on the island was running short of patience and cookies. Miss Wardle, the station cook, had kept spirits up with hearty stews and her famous ginger cake. On the seventh morning the sea calmed at last, but Miss Wardle was found dead. Biscuit took the cookie shortage personally. Who was where when the storm broke?
