The Night Mail

The Night Mail rattled north through the dark, carrying letters, parcels and a few sleepy passengers. Mrs. Redfern, the inspector who checked every fare, had walked the length of the train a dozen times and knew every face aboard. Somewhere past Gullhaven Junction the lights blinked. When the train pulled into the next station, Mrs. Redfern was found dead. Ada Quill boarded with Biscuit at her heels. Who was riding with her?

The victim: Mrs. Redfern, the fare inspector.
