A misty autumn morning brought half of Gullhaven to The Old Mill, where rumors said the place was about to change hands. Mrs. Irving, the heir's agent, had arrived from the city with a clipboard, a measuring tape and strict orders to settle its future by suppertime. Before any decision could be announced, Mrs. Irving was found dead. Biscuit is nose-down and very busy.
