The Night Mail

The Night Mail rattled out of Gullhaven at ten, bound for the city through thick sea fog. Mr. Carver, a jewel broker, was traveling with a velvet pouch of sapphires he would not let out of his sight for a moment. Somewhere between the last station and the first gray light of dawn, Mr. Carver was found dead. The train never stopped, so the culprit is still on board.

The victim: Mr. Carver, a jewel broker.
