A Fortune Afloat

Case 53 · Expert

Under a full moon, the paddle steamer Marigold churned around the bay on its season's-end dinner cruise. Mr. Ingram, heir to a shipping fortune, was aboard to decide whether to buy the old steamer outright. Every brass fitting had been polished twice, just in case. Mr. Ingram was found dead late that night, and the question is who saw him last. The suspect seen latest was the last to see Mr. Ingram alive, and did it.
