A Footnote at Ferncombe

Case 35 · Hard

Every autumn, Ferncombe Castle hosts a Medieval Fair, with jugglers, lute music and far too many turkey legs. Mr. Ainsley, a historian, had been invited to give a lecture on eight hundred years of drafty corridors, and he had promised a surprising new discovery. Nobody ever heard what it was. Mr. Ainsley was found dead in the Gatehouse. Only one suspect was in the Gatehouse, and that suspect did it.
